Injective is partnering with Wormhole to bring 10 new blockchains to its already interoperable network. With this integration, Injective will have one of the highest number of cross chain connections out of any blockchain.

Injective is natively able to connect to Ethereum, Cosmos, and a number of other IBC-enabled chains. This new collaboration with Wormhole will position Injective into becoming the primary gateway for cross-chain native assets from Solana and other prominent Layer 1 chains to enter the Cosmos universe.

What is Wormhole?

Wormhole is a generic message-passing protocol that connects high-value blockchains. In doing so, Wormhole enables the transfer of value and information between ecosystems.

Wormhole currently provides access to some of the most popular blockchains today such as Solana, Avalanche, Algorand, BNB Chain, Fantom, Oasis and Polygon.

Once a project or blockchain integrates with Wormhole, assets and information can be seamlessly be bridged over to Injective.

How will Injective work with Wormhole?

As an interoperable blockchain tailored for finance applications, Injective seeks to provide access to a diverse array of assets and ecosystems.

Traditionally, layer one blockchains are siloed and cannot communicate with one another. As a result, transferring assets from one chain to another either requires a complicated series of steps or is not possible altogether.

Injective has already made major strides in connecting blockchains together. The Injective Bridge currently supports the transfer of both native Ethereum assets and assets from IBC-enabled chains such as Cosmos.

The Wormhole integration will vastly enhance Injective’s capabilities with respect to interoperability. Users will soon find Wormhole integrated into the backend of the Injective Bridge whereby transferring assets from distinct EVM chains or Solana can be done with the click of a button.

The options for users can extend far beyond asset transfers as well. For instance, dApps on Injective could enable seamless cross-chain trading across the Cosmos and Solana ecosystems while also being able to offer yields on Solana (or any other Wormhole supported asset). Builders utilizing chains such as Avalanche, Algorand or Polygon can access assets within the broader Cosmos ecosystem via Injective.

Injective uniquely provides an MEV-resistant matching layer, programmable derivatives, robust orderbook primitives and an innovative CosmWasm contract layer to create apps that wouldn’t be possible anywhere else. These dApps can begin to leverage the heightened levels of on-chain interoperability moving forward.

Summary

Interoperability has always been a core component of Injective’s vision and Wormhole will continue to be a vital addition for the ecosystem. Injective is joining the ranks of some of the most widely used blockchain networks today with the Wormhole integration.

Assets emerging from Solana, Polygon and many others can directly be transferred to Injective, expanding the possibilities for users and developers alike. For many, Injective will serve as the primary gateway for cross-chain native assets from Solana and other prominent Layer 1 chains to enter the Cosmos and broader IBC universe.

About Wormhole

The Wormhole Network is a generic message-passing protocol that connects high-value blockchains and allows applications leveraging the messaging layer to facilitate interoperability between ecosystems. Secured by 19 guardians, developers are able to leverage the protocol to send arbitrary data cross-chain including tokens, NFTs, oracle data, governance decisions and more.
